Technician Foundation Course (FDC)

FDC ENTRY EXAMS Students with successful application forms will be required to undertake the entry exams at the school premises in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, Nigeria.

PASSMARK OF AT LEAST 60% IS REQUIRED FOR ENTRY

FDC COURSE OBJECTIVE At the end of the course, our students are able to:

1: Identify all motor vehicle parts and working dynamics, including past, current, and future technology like locomotives through fossil fuel to electric vehicles. This includes engines, gearboxes, brakes, steering systems, final drives, and transmissions. Differentiate between petrol (PMS) and diesel (APG) internals.

2: Work on engine internals, including engine blocks on 4-cylinder vehicles and other applications. Identify and troubleshoot the following: transmission and final drive, brake systems, ABS technology, all steering systems, air-conditioning systems, and repairs.

3: Run diagnostics on any vehicles and explain faults on vehicles and all operational parts. Identify electrical components of automobiles, convenience features like air-conditioning and more, their electrical control units (brain boxes), and troubleshoot.

4:Handle non-related electricals like basic home AC/DC electricals, batteries, and electronic theories with basics of coding with Arduino. Identify sensors and understand how they work.

5: Our students can also work on non-automotive applications like home portable generators, home internal electricals, and alternative power systems like solar power and inverters.

6:Perform routine vehicle services like oil changes, brake pad changes, pollen filter changes, external components changes, and troubleshoot them efficiently.

7: Understand the basics of alternative power sources outside fossil fuels with deep knowledge of lithium-ion batteries and electric vehicles, as well as battery power calculation in EVs and non-automobile-related power like home inverters and their power calculation.

8:Have full knowledge of automobile and workshop tools and their application, as well as safety procedures of a standard workshop.

9: Have knowledge of the Nigerian parts environment, where to source parts, how to source them, and how to order parts from outside the country.

10: Have knowledge of communicating and dealing with workshop customers. Have knowledge of workshop accounting, how to manage a workshop, and software to use. Be rigorously prepared on self-sufficient technological knowledge and intelligence growth.

All graduating students will receive the NIATEC CERTIFICATE OF FDC completion.
